Thats why made this simple little tool. It snugly fits into the outdrive and allows you to slide the o-ring over the outdrive with ease on both ends of the diff! Once the o-ring is seated, simply remove the cone. A cheap, handy tool to have in your pit box to make rebuilding your diff that bit easier!
